Commercial Locksmith North Vancouver

North Vancouver · BC
Business security,done properly.

Fast Locksmith North Vancouver provides commercial locksmith services to businesses, strata buildings, and multi-unit properties across the North Shore — from master key systems on Lonsdale to access control installs in West Vancouver's British Properties. We work around your hours. Licensed, mobile, and on-site without a service-call runaround.

Commercial locksmith work is a different category from a residential call-out. The scope is bigger — multiple doors, multiple users, layered access levels — and the margin for error is smaller. If the wrong key opens the server room, or a master key gets lost and there's no restricted keyway protecting it, the problem compounds fast. We handle commercial lock hardware for North Shore businesses of all sizes: retail shops along the Lonsdale Quay market strip, professional offices in Lower Lonsdale, light industrial units in Norgate, and strata complexes with dozens of units throughout North Vancouver and West Vancouver.

What's included in commercial locksmith service

Our commercial service covers the full range of hardware and access needs. A typical engagement might cover a single door replacement, or it might span a full keying audit of a 40-unit strata building — we scope accordingly and quote before we start.

  • Master key system design, supply, and installation — restricted keyways available
  • Commercial-grade deadbolts, mortise locks, and cylindrical locksets (Schlage, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock)
  • Electronic access control: keypad, card reader, and fob systems for single or multi-door setups
  • High-security lock upgrades for server rooms, cash offices, and restricted areas
  • Strata building keying — suite locks, common area doors, parkade entry, amenity rooms
  • Panic hardware and exit devices: push-bar installation, adjustment, and compliance check
  • Door closer installation and adjustment (commercial grade, not residential)
  • Safe installation, combination changes, and opening for commercial safes
  • Lock rekeying after staff turnover, tenant changeover, or lost key events
  • Emergency commercial lockout service — 24/7, same priority as residential

How our commercial service works

01

Phone consult

Call 778-262-1107 and describe the job — number of doors, current hardware, what you're trying to solve. We'll tell you what's involved and give you a realistic range before anyone drives out.

02

On-site assessment

A licensed technician arrives at your North Shore location and does a walk-through. For master key systems or multi-door jobs, this is where we map the key hierarchy and confirm hardware specs with you before ordering anything.

03

Work completed, keys handed over

We complete the work — whether that's a single rekey or a full system installation — and hand over documented key records and hardware specs. No loose ends, no "we'll follow up" on pending items.

Strata buildings and multi-unit properties on the North Shore

North Vancouver and West Vancouver have a high density of strata-managed buildings — mid-rise condos along Lonsdale, townhouse complexes in Lynn Valley, and larger strata communities in Edgemont Village and the British Properties. Strata work has its own requirements: councils need master keys that give access to common areas without opening individual units; suite locks need to be keyable to a common system; and when a suite sells, the new owner's lock should be independent from the previous tenant's key. We work directly with strata managers and building administrators to plan the keying system, execute it with minimal disruption, and document everything clearly for future reference.

We use restricted keyway systems for strata jobs where ongoing key control matters — meaning keys can only be duplicated with written authorization, not at a hardware store kiosk. If your building has been through several tenant cycles and key control has drifted, a master key audit followed by a full rekey is usually the cleanest fix.

Commercial clients across North Vancouver's business corridors

The commercial locksmith calls we handle reflect the real mix of North Shore businesses: restaurant and retail operators along the Lonsdale corridor from the Quay up to Upper Lonsdale; medical and professional offices in the Lower Lonsdale and Central Lonsdale area; light industrial and warehouse units in Norgate and Lynn Valley; and service-industry businesses that run irregular hours and need a locksmith who'll actually pick up at 11 pm. We service West Vancouver commercial clients along Marine Drive and in Ambleside and Dundarave as well — the same licensed tech, same quoted price, same mobile dispatch. If your business is on the North Shore, we cover it.

Common questions

What's the difference between a master key and a grand master key system?

A master key opens all locks in a group — for example, a property manager's key that opens every suite in a building. A grand master key sits above master keys and opens everything across multiple groups. For a small office with one manager and several staff, a two-level system (individual keys + one master) is usually enough. Larger strata buildings or multi-property operators often benefit from a three-level hierarchy. We design the system based on your actual access needs, not a one-size template.

Can you rekey our building without replacing the locks?

In most cases, yes. Standard commercial cylindrical and mortise locks can be rekeyed to a new key combination without replacing the lock body — it's the most cost-effective option after a staff departure or lost key event. The exception is when the existing hardware is worn, low-grade, or incompatible with the keyway you want to move to. We'll tell you honestly at the assessment whether a rekey is sufficient or whether a hardware swap makes more sense long-term.

Do you install electronic access control, or only mechanical locks?

We install both. For commercial clients who want keypad entry, card readers, or fob-based access, we supply and install single-door and small multi-door electronic access systems. These aren't full enterprise IT systems — for a 50-door campus installation you'd want a dedicated integrator — but for a small office, retail back-of-house, or strata amenity room that needs audit-trail access, we handle it start to finish.

How long does a master key system installation take?

A small system — up to 10 doors with a single master — typically takes two to four hours on-site, plus a lead time of a few days for restricted keys to be cut if you're starting from scratch. A larger strata building with 20–40 doors is usually a full-day job, sometimes split across two visits to avoid disrupting residents during high-traffic times. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the assessment stage, not an optimistic estimate that leaves you waiting.

What if we have an emergency commercial lockout after hours?

Call 778-262-1107 — we answer 24/7. Commercial lockouts get the same dispatch priority as residential calls. If you're locked out of your business premises at midnight or on a Sunday, a licensed tech will be on the way. After-hours commercial calls have a higher service rate than business-hours work; we'll tell you the range on the phone before we dispatch.

Are your technicians licensed to do commercial work in BC?

Yes. BC doesn't have a separate commercial locksmith licence — the Registered Locksmith designation covers both residential and commercial work. All our technicians are licensed under BC's Security Services Act. For access control work involving electrical components, we scope within what a licensed locksmith can legally perform in BC and flag anything that needs an electrician's sign-off.
